berlin lit is an international online journal for new poetry in English, published quarterly. Founded in 2022 in Berlin by Matthew McDonald, the first issue was published in autumn 2022.

Matthew McDonald is an Australian musician and poet living in Berlin. He is the principal double bassist of the Berliner Philharmoniker and professor of double bass at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’. Matthew holds an MA in creative writing from the Open University.

The website was designed and polished to perfection by Walter Stone, an editor at ITERANT poetry magazine, and Programme Director at the Ruth Stone House.
